In response to Tony Abbott’s claims that the carbon tax will wipe South Australian town Whyalla off the map, Emerson used a different ‘talent’ to get his point across. Emerson sings, “No Whyalla wipe-out there on my TV”, and even does a little dance to accompany his karaoke rendition. In what is one of the most awful, yet hilarious performances, some weren’t as amused. Joe Hockey has slammed Emerson accusing him of not taking Australian’s seriously and as a “circus clown” after his performance, however Craig Emerson stands by his less than enjoyable singing. "What we're making light of is Mr Abbott's doom and gloom prophecies.” Emerson even went so far as to get Red Symons permission to use the song.
