A company says it’s committed to building a power plant somewhere on the Fleurieu after its development application to put one in the Victor Harbor area was withdrawn.

Fleurieu Power has conceded it was ill-advised to suggest one be built where there was an over-reaction to ill-founded beliefs .. thus blaming locals and opponents of the application for winning the battle.

The company had wanted to construct its power station in the Waterport Road, Hayborough area.

More than 1,500 signatures appeared on a petition opposing the plan.
