Coorong seal culling?

seal Coorong fishermen say it’s inevitable they’ll be a cull of New Zealand fur seals.

They want these seals commercially hunted to protect their livelihoods.

The Goolwa Pipi Harvesters Association has written to a state government agency seeking an investigation of the potential of commercial culling which would allow them to be hunted for their skins, oil and meat.

It’s estimated there are now 200 fur seals in an established colony in the Coorong, with reports some have even moved into the lakes system.
