A private company says it’s reached the preliminary stage of talking to the Callington community about a new waste water treatment plant.

Alano Water, based in Port Adelaide, has applied to build the facility on the town’s outskirts much to the dismay of many locals.

The suggested site is a major sticking point among other issues of an environmental and social nature.

Company director Mark Catalano says a site inspection with locals is planned.
