Driveway crashes has prompted an RAA alert.

The motoring body says greater care when leaving and arriving home is needed.

The RAA says more than three driveway crashes occur every day in South Australia.

It says there were 1204 driveway crashes in 2011, with 85% occurring when motorists are reversing.

Of these, 49 involved a cyclist being hit, while 33 pedestrians were struck.

The law says motorists are required to give way to pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles when pulling out of a driveway.
