The company behind a sewerage and waste water treatment plant at Callington has called a public meeting this morning.

It’s scheduled for 11am at the Callington oval.

Alano Water proposes the plant on Strathalbyn Road, just outside the boundary of the Mt Barker council district, much to the dismay and anger of many locals.

The company has lodged a development application with Murray Bridge council.

Alano claims the plant would bring huge economic benefits. Spokeswoman for the residents Narelle Thomas says they’re not opposed to such a plant but not at the suggested site.
