Children should be allowed out of school for a family holiday according to a new survey.

The result challenges current State Government policy.

About 80% of the 1,400 respondents to the survey support parents of primary school students who choose to take holidays during school terms.

This question generated more comments than any other in the survey.

Parents rejected the government’s policy which discourages parents from taking holidays outside school holiday periods.  The policy is intended to lift attendance rates at public schools
