The Families SA statistics reveal a rise of more than 20,000 calls in four years.

Teachers and others who are required to make reports, claim they’re being put on hold for more than an hour to lodge their concerns on the Child Abuse Report Line.

That line logged 54,528 calls last financial year alone.

Families SA says the average waiting time for callers to make a notification is 10 minutes.
