There should be uniformed crowd controllers at licensed venues after midnight.

That’s the view of Adelaide Hills Council as a way of controlling drunken violence and rowdy behaviour.

The controllers would have the power to disperse patrons up to one hour after closing time as part of the council’s liquor licensing policy.

The council also wants applicants granted a liquor licence to make food available to patrons wherever alcohol is served and consumed.

Mayor Bill Spragg says the council wants to be pro-active in light of recent incidents.
