A man who died when his car crashed into a tree in the Hills was a 49 year old from Morphett Vale.

He was the sole occupant of the vehicle which caught fire after the crash which ripped the car in two on Coxs Hill Rd at Onkaparinga Hills.

The fatality occurs as the number of P-plate drivers killed on state roads remained on track to be the lowest in six years.
