Better consumer protection in relation to energy contracts is being sought by Family First.

MLC Dennis Hood says the party has received many complaints from constituents who’ve signed up with an electricity or gas retailer’s door to door sales executive, without a detailed calculation as to whether they’re better off or not.

Legislation may eventually be necessary.

Mr Hood says some consumers can do better but it’s not common.
