Marine parks to cost taxpayers |
|
Marine parks management could cost SA taxpayers up to $122 million a year.
The Marine Parks Management Alliance commissioned independent costing of the Weatherill Government's plan to set up 19 marine parks. They conclude it could cost between $107 million and $122 million a year over five years. That includes the cost of managing and monitoring the parks, compensation and damages, loss of production and regional economic impacts. The analysis used information from the environment and agricultural departments, lawyers' estimates and Australian Bureau of Statistics data.
