After-hours care concerns under the new Medical Local system have been raised by doctors group.

The Rural Doctors Association want the Commonwealth to clarify how the after-hours care will be provided in rural areas.

Medicare Locals have been introduced as part of an overhaul replacing Divisions of General Practice.

One covers the Riverland and another the south-east.

The RDA says it’s worried there are no plans to protect local after-hours care in small communities.
