A group of environmental scientists is less than impressed with a parliamentary inquiry’s findings of the proposed Murray-Darling Basin Plan.

The inquiry says the Gillard Government has outlined how much water it wants to return to the river system but has so-far failed to say where it will get about half of it.

Irrigators have welcomed the inquiry's findings.

But the Wentworth Group maintains the inquiry should consider returning more water.
