A small but positive step is how the Weatherill Government has described a decision to examine the benefits from increased river flows.

This plan may lead to the return of more environmental flows to the Murray-Darling river system.

Water Minister Paul Caica says the MDBA has been asked to model a return of 3,200 gigalitres annually .. 450 gigalitres more than proposed in the revised draft MDBA plan.

Mr Caica says South Australia had long been calling for the 3,200 gigalitres to be considered.
