Towns across the Riverland and beyond have joined the fight to try to prevent the closure of the Cadell ferry.

The state government claims it’ll save $400,000 by shutting down the service from early next month.

About 500 people have attended a “consultation” meeting to voice their concerns – people not only from the local area but Port Augusta, the Mallee and Murraylands.

Another meeting is scheduled later this month with the Minister responsible.
