The Gillard Government’s large network of marine parks plan is worrying an environmental group.

There are 5 main zones in offshore waters with more areas off the SA coast west of Kangaroo Island and across to the border with WA.

The Government is promising up to $100 million of compensation to fishing interests.

Michelle Grady from the Pew Environment Group says there are some flaws because key areas remain unprotected from oil and gas exploration and KI is at the top of that list.
