Calvin Harris lays the dirt on Lady Gaga…and Lady Gaga is NOT impressed.

Calvin Harris told the BBC that Gaga had attempted to work with the DJ and producer at the start of her career, but he refused simply because he wasn’t a fan of her music.  To put it bluntly, Harris has claimed he didn’t want to work with the megastar because he “didn’t really like her songs”.

Promoting his new album 18 months, told BBC Breakfast he knocked back an opportunity to work with Lady Gaga in 2008.

He explained, “You have got to pick people whose songs or voice you like and at that stage, it was before she was really big, and they sent me some songs and I didn't really like the songs.”

Harris also revealed he was busy during the time of the offer.

Lady Gaga, on the other hand, has shot back at the DJ via Twitter posting, “(I) never even emailed you @calvinharris I guess it’s hard to believe I write + produce my music.  cuz I’m a woman I don’t know about EDM right?”

Wow – big claims from Lady Gaga!  Is she doing a Julia Gillard and and hinting sexism and misogyny in that tweet?

In our favourite kind of celebrity spat (the Twitter wars), Harris responded, "No, your label emailed me. I always make sure I say I'm a fan when asked about it, I apologise if I offended u, wasn't the intention."

Lady Gaga then said,  "@CalvinHarris thanks for the apology &explaining. My apologies too. Congratulations on your album. Wish you well. Cheers."

Does this mean they’re friends now?
