After months of rumours, it has been confirmed that Britney Spears has joined the X Factor.

Finally, Simon Cowell has confirmed what we’ve all been expecting.  Britney Spears is set to judge the new season of X Factor.

Simon Cowell revealed the news in New York, welcoming Britney Spears and newcomer Demi Lovato, and the returning L.A. Reid.

Britney Spears spoke of the experience stating:

"I'm so excited about this whole experience," she said. "It's going to be so fun and is so different than anything I've done. I'm ready to find a true star."

Demi Lovato said she is, "excited to represent my generation and ready to find a winner."

In reply, Simon Cowell added, "We'll see about that." But "we'll seriously kick butt with these judges."

Britney’s conservators, father Jamie Spears and fiancé Jason Trawick, signed the deal on her behalf for a whopping $15 million. 

Spears and Levato replace the sacked Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.  Steve Jones’ position as the show’s host is yet to be filled.
