Here’s why:

Geoffrey Edelsten claims a woman he met online owes him $5000, but denies he had a romantic relationship with her despite the website being for “sugar daddies”.

Brynne Edelsten’s 69 year-old husband, entrepreneur and doctor revealed in court yesterday that he received an email from 32 year-old New Jersey woman Stacy Da Silva via the dating website sugardaddyforme.com.

Dr Edelsten admitted that he took the opportunity to meet Da Silva in Florida during a business trip and told the court he and wife Brynne had separated at the time due to a physical argument over a phone in March.

Evidence was given yesterday that the argument involved a “wrestle” when Brynne confiscated Geoffrey’s phone then called police to their apartment in Melbourne.  Brynne may be called upon as a witness in the case which is expected to conclude this week.

Despite the separation from his reality television wife, Dr Edelsten denies having a physical affair with Stacy Da Silva, though did support her financially.  Edelsten admitted to issuing Da Silva with a loan and did buy her a number of items, including Louis Vuitton and paying for her flight to Miami.

Geoffrey Edelsten now says, “I regard her as a schemer”, and confirmed that he made a complaint to US police that Da Silva had stolen a phone and money from him.  He later withdrew the complaint.

Edelsten denies he ever created the profile on sugardaddyforme.com, instead insisting that someone must have hacked his emails and stole a password to create it.  He also claims he didn’t know that he featured on the website until someone told him about it – now he cannot recall who that person is.  Despite using the website earlier this year, and explaining to the court that a large number of women contacted him, he has now asked for the profile to be removed..

Stacy Da Silva’s team have accused Geoffrey Edelsten of fabricating evidence.
