It was a great trip (except the Blues losing)… Here is a little look at what we got up to :)
TUESDAY
Our day started with the lovely Phil from Shoalhaven Shuttles picking us up and taking us to the Airport. In true ‘know it all’ form, Ricardo tried to confuse Phil by sending him wrong directions and getting him to look at picking up randoms. Phil was smart though, he ignored Ricardo and got us safely to the airport, where we met up with Sharon's partner in crime, Sam. Our flight to Melbourne can be summed up by simply saying… FRUIT NINJA…
ACTUALLY, a lot of our trip included Fruit Ninja (a very addictive app)… As we arrived to our Hotel rooms, we threw down our bags to sus out the bedding situation. After winning our ‘First Dibs’ competition Tuesday Morning, Ricardo called FIRST DIBS on the beautiful bed… That left me with what I believed was a fold out couch… Turns out, it didn’t fold out… We got the bedding sorted ASAP with a single bed placed in the room. The shower was also a bit of a worry, as it looked to be see through, turned out, it wasn’t bad… That night, we had some dinner, caught up with some Melbournites and rested well before our first Melbourne Elle and Ricardo Show.
WEDNESDAY
With a nice early rise, we brought the Melbourne atmosphere to 94.9 Power FM… Elle did the show from bed… We then enjoyed a great morning at the National Gallery of Victoria, checking out the Fred Williams- Infinite Horizons Exhibition. Humphrey Clegg, the Coordinating Curator of the Exhibition joined us as we walked through the Gallery. The works were simply AMAZING and having Humphrey there to explain bits and pieces to us just made the experience even more exceptional! After a great morning at the NGV, we moved on to the MCG. None of us had been to the G before, and as you approach the stadium it is quite spectacular. We started out by looking at the beautiful bronze statues around the stadium. Then made our way into the National Sports Museum, where we were greeted by Margaret Birtley, the General Manager of the Museum. Margaret was lovely, and is such an impressive person to speak to as she has a wealth of knowledge on all sports. We wandered around with Margaret for a few hours, seeing so many great pieces of Australian Sport. If you ever go to Melbourne, the Sports Museum is a MUST. There is so much there, from the Faster, Higher, Stronger Olympic Gallery, to all codes of Footy and a huge Cricketing display (plus more.) Then… It was GAME TIME. We had seen so many Queenslanders leading up to the game, but then as we reached Etihad, the Blues came out in force.
We met fellow blues supporters, which was great, and a few Maroons snuck in… The atmosphere was incredible.
THURSDAY After a horrible and controversial loss to the Blues, we woke up nice and early for our second and last Elle and Ricardo Melbourne Show… All in all, besides NSW losing, we had a great time in Melbourne and were safely delivered home by the ever so sweet Narelle from Shoalhaven Shuttles. Where would a great trip be without a few thank you mentions…
