Lauren Jackson was always destined to be an Olympic basketballer, with both her parents previously having represented Australia in the sport. Lauren took to the game at the very young age of 4 and has not looked back. Jackson has become Australia's most decorated basketballer having won multiple WNBL Championships and MVP titles in Australia. Her early success saw her drafted into the WNBA in 2001 where she played with the Seattle Storm. She has won two WNBA Championships, 3 WNBA MVP awards, a WNBA Finals MVP and made the All-Star team 7 times during her career. For Australia, Lauren has been part of the Opals at 3 Olympics already, achieving Silver medals in 2000, 2004 and 2008. She has also tasted gold sucess with the Opals, having been crowned World Championship in 2006, the same year they took out Gold at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. |
