We all know Facebook is having, erm… financial troubles. Well as far as having stock halve in value after floating and an unsure future when it comes to converting the gigatrillion users into actual advertising dollar signs. So Facebook is always on the look out to make money where it can, we all get that. But it’s getting a little lame. Today Facebook reckons it’s onto a winner, it’s called the ‘Promoted Post’ – something that brands have been able to do for ages, but now us citizen people can get into it to. You pretty much pay for more of your friends to see your post, by sticking it to the top of your news feed for a lot longer. I am not sure who would ever be sad enough to pay so they can tell more people about what their cat just did. But from Facebook’s perspective they’d argue this: say you have an important announcement, something that’s life changing, or perhaps you have crafted the most awesome one liner ever, that will be quoted for weeks by your mates and then go viral (And that happens?). Well then this feature might be for you… I still think its sad. The price hasn’t been officially set, but it’s supposed to be around $7. Or you could go get a large McChicken Burger meal, which is what I’m going to do after I finish this. MMmm Chicken.
