So remember when Tom Cruise and Katy Holms got a divorce, Katy pretty much did a complete blindside of Tom and People Magazine, who is every stars best friend and never really has anything bad to say about celebrities, completeley destroyed Tom.  They ripped him a new one.

Tom’s image was decimated, by a double barrelled assault of losing Katie and all the bad press.  So with three mega bucks movies on the way, it’s time for team Tom to get his image back on top.  To went crawling back to ‘People’ to ask if they could salvage his image.  And they said yes.  Because well, that’s what they do.  Turns out they best way to turn it all around (what they thought) was to do a thing on how much Tom misses his daughter Suri (even though he hasn’t seen her in like two months).

So he got that on and yeah it did pretty well. It didn’t, however, stop other tabloids taking aim, with one London rag reporting that he was out every night ‘auditioning’ mystery women to take Katies place.  Pretty crazy, but in Tomk’s case believable.

So then why didn’t he bother seeing his daughter in two months?  Well officially Tom's defence for his awful parenting is that it’s due to the fact he has a job, and he’s working, he hasn’t had a chance to visit his child, since he’s a responsible man, with professional obligations.  And besides, he made those commitments well before he & Katie broke up, it’s only right that he honours his promises.  Of course he misses Suri, but they talk all the time, right?

The “People” article conveniently glosses over the details of a planned visit from Suri a few week back, she was going to fly from New York to London, but she just started a new schedule at a non-Scientology school and Katie didn’t want to disrupt her education, which of course makes no sense at all.

Why is it up to Suri (a 6-year-old girl) to fly from New York to London to visit her dad?  Tom has a private jet and has other responsibilities besides his movies, namely his daughter .

When publicists invent these stories, they don’t think them through well enough.  And even with all the effort, Katie Holmes is still winning the P.R. war, every time Tom tries to make a move, she snuffs it out. So all that’s left for the man who (used to be) Hollywood’s biggest star is to call up “People” and beg for a puff piece, again.
