iPhone Dock

Alright I’ll try to not get too bogged down in nerd talk, but if you’re thinking of upgrading your iPhone read this first.

iPhone technology has been so far interchangeable, your old iPhone 3 charger worked for your new iPhone 4S phone,  your iPod dock and speaker set up you bought in 2006 still works for your new iPhone.  And your case may have been reusable if you went from a 4 to a 4S (the new iPhone) earlier in the year.

This is all about to change with the introduction with the new iPhone (probably called the iPhone 5). With a release date looming later this year, it’s all about to get a shake up.

it’s almost certain that you wont be able to keep your old iPhone case, yup the one that fit both the iPhone 4 and 4S.  The iPhone 5 will be a completely new shape and design.

Most importantly and the biggest change will be the ‘Dock,’ the bit you stick the charger in.  This is going from a 30 pin to a 19 pin design.

So that means that anything you’ve got that works now wont with the new iPhone.

Downside?  Well you’re going to have to buy all new gear for your iPhone.  Upside?  You’ve got a new iPhone!  Yes!
