Sometimes when you meet a new person, things can get a little uncomfortable. There are so many situations, new staff at work, friends new partner, family member. People tend to gage the situation and greet people to how they see fit. It can be awkward though.

Meeting someone for the first time in a ‘friends’ situation, I give the person a little hug. In a business sense, I shake a males hand and hug a female. I always thought this was ok, until the other day when I was told that males find it awkward shaking a females hand. What do I do now? I tend to I think the hug may be a bit full on for a first time meet (in the business sense.) Who should make the first move?  I’m so confused, so please tell us, your way for greeting people in different situations.
