There are two types of people in this world… Hoarders and NON hoarders.

What is a Hoarder you may ask? A hoarder is someone that has the inability or unwillingness to discard large quantities of objects that would seemingly qualify as useless or without value. I have recently discovered my boyfriend is a hoarder… Of clothes!!!

Let me cast your mind back to Sunday (the one just gone) I was folding washing and picked up a ratty, stained (even after washed) ripped, faded green shirt belonging to my boyfriend (picture shows this actual shirt)

I turned to him, holding up the shirt and said “Time to throw this out I think,”  he JUMPED at me, snatching the shirt, tearing a few more holes in it, and started pleading “NO, you can’t throw it out, it’s my ole’ faithful… I love this shirt, it’s always been with me.” He then proceeded to hide the shirt from me so I would never find it to throw out. I did tell him if he was to ever wear it again I will rip it, and if I see it in the wash it will go to the place where all the lost socks are.

I’ve been here before though, a friend of the family had a singlet that he wore EVERYWHERE, it was tie-dye, not so fashionable and you could see straight through to the skin from all the holes. After this shirt had been worn everyday for nearly a week of camping, my sister and I decided to rip it apart. There were a few tears, and a shirtless man standing in a chicken shop, but I feel as though I helped the eyes of the world by not having to see this mess of a shirt.

GUYS… I get that you think it is ok to wear ripped trackies to the shops when your girlfriend/ mum/ sister has a nice dress on, or you don’t mind having holes in your shirt when you go for dinner because they are “not that noticeable.” How would you feel if it was the other way around though? Say you went on a date and the person you were with was missing a strap from their top and you could see a bit of fake tan baked on the outfit. Would you think that was cool?

HOARDING CLOTHES IF THEY ARE FALLING APART IS NOT COOL!

Allow me to clear things up a little though. Re-wearing outfits is fine! Having your favourite outfit is fine… If it is falling apart though and looks like a rag you wouldn’t even use to wash your car tyres with, it is NOT FINE!

So help me with this cause, destroy, eliminate and dispose of all ratty clothes…

I can’t find my boyfriends green shirt, as now he has hidden it, so help me out, leave your thoughts here… Should he ditch the “Ole’ faithful” (disgusting) shirt?
