Council Ignores Legal Threats – Begins MV Pool Demolition

moss vale pool Demolition of the Moss Vale Pool has started despite threats from a ratepayers group to take out an injunction against its construction.

The Southern Highlands Ratepayers Association ordered Wingecarribee Council to stop work on the Moss Vale Aquatic Centre last week or they would seek an injunction in the Land and Environment Court.

However, after seeking legal advice the Association decided it would be too difficult to obtain an injunction and even if they were successful it would be too late to stop the $8.4 million development.

Instead the Association has written to the approval body, the Joint Regional Planning Panel and approached local MPs to lobby the NSW Planning Minister on their behalf.

Spokesperson, Dennis Newby has told 2STs Graeme Day that council, as the applicant has failed to meet specific conditions set by the panel before starting work on the pool
