Bowral Church Seeks Approval For Development Plans
Monday, 13 August 2012 00:46

st judes church Wingecarribee Council has received a development application from St Judes Anglican Church in Bowral to carry out major alterations and additions.

The historic church and hall sits on a heritage listed site in Bendooley Street within the Bowral Heritage Conservation Area.

It is proposed to demolish the 1980s extension to the existing church hall and construct a single storey addition linking the hall with St Judes church.

Twenty seven trees will have to be removed during the work to make way for new driveways, car parking areas and a new access onto Boolwey Street.

The new buildings will be used as a Christian Education Centre to cater for the growing needs of the church's congregation.

Council has referred the application to the relevant government authorities and its Heritage Advisor for comment and has also extended the public exhibition period to August 31.
