First Hume, Now Nats Make Move On Gilmore
Wednesday, 08 August 2012 23:42

angry anderson The deteriorating relations between the federal coalition partners have soured further, with the Nationals considering running rocker Angry Anderson, against the Liberals in the Nowra based seat of Gilmore.

The war of words between the two parties started in the Southern Highland and Southern Tablelands seat of Hume.

Sitting Liberal Alby Schultz is set to retire and the Nationals have made no secret of the fact they want the seat.

The situation is the same in Gilmore, with long serving Liberal Jo Gash planning to switch to local government.

Angry Anderson has told the Herald he would love to stand for the Nationals in Gilmore, and Senator John Williams says he believes his party would win the seat.

The Nationals have held Gilmore previously, with former Transport Minister John Sharp being the local MP back in the 90's, before a boundary change and he switched to Hume.
