Fire Fighters May Take Strike Action
Tuesday, 31 July 2012 00:17

bomoderry fire pumper Fire fighters across the region not ruled out strike action if a dispute over temporary  closing of town stations is not resolved.

A move to take some  stations off line in a bid to cut down on relief crew costs  has been delayed ahead of a hearing in the Industrial Court on THURSDAY.

The state wants to cut $70 million from the budget of Fire And Rescue NSW, which operates stations in areas like  Berry, Nowra, Ulladulla, Moss Vale, Bowral, Mittagong and Goulburn.

Darrin Sullivan from the Fire Fighters Union says it is a sad state of affairs when the New South Wales Government can not afford to fund a basic fire and rescue service.
