Bowral To Experience Housing Shortage As Region Grows
Tuesday, 10 July 2012 05:56

A new study has found the population of the Wingecarribee will grow by around 16,000  to around 60,000 people  in the next 20 years, and there will be a need for an extra 6,000 homes.

The study has been prepared by consultants and has found the number of people over the age over 55 is expected to grow by more than 70%, while the over 85 population will triple.

The highest level of growth will be around Moss Vale, and to a lesser extent Bowral and Mittagong.

According to the report, demand for housing in Bowral will eventually outstrip supply, with most of the growth coming from in fill development of existing lots.

New housing development in Moss Vale is likely to be around Broughton Street, and the Chelsea Gardens - Coomungie property.

In Mittagong there will be continued  growth in the emerging Renwick development and new sub divisions, east of the old Hume Highway at Braemar.
