The parent company of the southern highlands largest private employer has announced its second profit downgrade in the last few months.

Boral operates the Berrima and Maldon cement works, the Marulan limestone mine and the Medway Colliery.

The company says profits could be about $75 million less than what was forecast earlier in the year....with net profits forecast to be in the range of $100 million to $110 million.

Main problems have been reduced demand because of the weather, delays to natural gas and roads works projects on the east coast,  and an earlier than planned maintenance shutdown of a Victorian cement plant.

The company has rejected suggestions it may have to go to the market place to raise additional capital, saying it is operating comfortably within its banking covenants.

However analysts have warned the company is heading for its worst result since 2001.
