Local RFS Provide Cover For Sydney During Strike

Fire fighters from Fire and Rescue NSW have been banned from repeating yesterday's strike action -- for at least three months.

The INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS COMMISSION has ordered all communication centres and HAZMAT stations must be fully staffed, retained stations ready for emergency responses and executive officers on duty.

It comes after fire crews walked off the job yesterday - leaving their rural fire counterparts to cover emergency responses.

RFS volunteers from Mittagong, Berrima and Wingello formed part of a strike team sent to Casula yesterday, where they stood by to provide cover in the event of an emergency.
