The bridge over the Shoalhaven River near Nerriga is still closed to traffic due to flooding.

Goulburn Mulwaree Council only reopened the bridge on Tuesday afternoon after it was closed for two weeks to replace rotting timbers.

Engineers were forced to close the bridge again yesterday (wed), following heavy rain in the upper reaches of the Shoalhaven River catchment.

At one stage water was flowing almost a metre above the top of the bridge deck.

A visual inspection will be carried out this (thu) morning with council hoping to reopen the bridge in time for the long weekend.

Also closed is the causeway through the Shoalhaven Rive at Stewart's Crossing near Mayfield
