The bridge over the Shoalhaven River near Nerriga was re-opened to traffic yesterday after being closed for a fortnight for repairs, but has today been shut again, this time because of flooding.

The bridge was closed so staff from Goulburn Mulwaree Council could replace rotting timbers. and was given the all clear yesterday afternoon.

However engineers were forced to close the bridge again this morning ( wed ) , following heavy rain in the upper reaches of the Shoalhaven River catchment.

At one stage this morning water was flowing almost a metre above the top of the bridge deck.
