Rain Nice, Wind Bad, As SES Clean Up After Storm

ses tree removal. jpg The clean up continues across the coast and highlands this morning after the wild weather of the last two days.

There have been widespread power blackouts, one of the longest around North Nowra and Cambewarra, after problems at the corner of Illaroo Road and Pitt Street.

The Shoalhaven State Emergency Service has answered more than 30 calls for help.

ses tree removal The biggest job was at Berrara where it took three and a half hours for a crew of four to secure a very large tree , containing a bee hive which was balancing on the edge of a two storey home.

Other calls came in from around Sussex, Callala, Nowra- Bomaderry and Sanctuary Point.

In Nowra the strongest wind gust was 83 KPH at 1.15 yesterday afternoon, 80 at Moss Vale, 106 at Ulladulla, and in Goulburn 74 KPH.

Only last week local farmers were saying the needed about 50mm of rain to end the recent dry spell, those prayers have been answered with 49mm at Nowra, 28 at Moss Vale, 37 at Ulladulla, and 16 in Goulburn.
