turia pitt TURIA PITT from Ulladulla and KATE SANDERSON  were left with burns to more than 60 per cent of their bodies after a bushfire swept across the 100 kilometre  course through the  Kimberly region.

A West Australian parliamentary inquiry has  been told the biggest mistake organisers made was not liasing with the Fire and Emergency Services Authority.

Committee chairman MIKE NAHAN says the event organisers, Racing the Planet, didn't involve people with appropriate knowledge in risk identification, when it planned the event.

Lawyers are now preparing papers for what is expected to be a multi million action against Racing the Planet, to recover damages for the injured competitors.
