A house fire has caused extensive damage to a kitchen in old Erowal bay and created heavy smoke damage throughout the property.

About 12:25 today RFS volunteers were called out to the fire in McGibbon Pde Old Erowal Bay.

Crews were on scene in under 10 minutes and most of the fire had been extinguished by the resident.

Upon further inspection with a thermal imaging camera the fire had extended into the wall above the kitchen stove which needed to be extinguished by fire crews.

Cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Its the second house fire this week. Tuesday night a fire was sparked in a garage at Sussex Inlet when a short in the garage roller door melted down into boxes sitting inside a trailer causing about 10,000 in damages.
