The Shoalhaven Greens are calling for zero tolerance on corruption within Council following last year's scandal surrounding  a $10,000 impounded excavator which was sold to the son of former city staffer for half its value.

Greens Mayoral candidate, Clr Amanda Findley says if the city does not take a stand against minor incidents of misbehaviour or petty theft within the organisation, it is seen to be supporting a culture of corruption.

She has called for a review into the way council reports issues of corruption after her freedom of information request into the excavator incident failed to uncover all the details of the matter.

Clr Findley says while the identity of whistle blowers must be protected, council should be prosecuting any staff who engage in alleged criminal activity.

Meantime, the Shoalhaven First team led by Deputy Mayor, Clr Andrew Guile is calling for the next crop of councillors to be made personally responsible and accountable for the financial health of council.

Clr Guile says if councillors were more accountable for their decisions, it would lift the standards expected of council and senior staff
