Gash Angry Over Travel Cuts For Defence Force Personnel
Saturday, 28 July 2012 04:34

Jo Gash

Gilmore MP Jo Gash has lashed out at the Federal Government, over what she says is a cruel and bitter blow to local military personnel.

As part of a move to try and save money, the Government has axed the right of navy, army and air force personnel to receive a free flight home each year.

The majority of personnel use the right to fly home to be with their families for Christmas.

More than 22,000 defence personnel have used this benefit in the last 12 months.

Mrs Gash says the younger diggers, their parents and siblings will be the hardest hit.
