Nowra’s Shame File – It Just Gets Worse By The Day

nowra cbd failed road Two months after Shoalhaven Council promised to make a start on repairing broken infrastructure in the Nowra CBD, a new series of checks has revealed nothing has been done, aside from trying to stem the tide in the losing battle against graffiti.

Back in late May City General Manager Russ Pigg hosted a walk around the CBD, and was joined by councillors and members of the business community.

nowra cbd broken brickwork Mr Pigg told civic leaders given the amount of work required, and the current level of funding, the repairs would not happen overnight, and it would be a gradual process.

A new inspection this week has revealed a huge hole in the road in Nowra Lane, where a partially completed repair has been severely eroded away.

 

nowra cbd orange barrier A problem with an inspection pit at the corner of Worrigee Street and Nowra Lane, which first arose more than a year ago,  has been covered over with large rocks and sand bags, and orange safety mesh.

Broken pavers at the corner of Junction and Kinghorn Street pose a major trip hazard, and smashed concrete has been  piled on top of a drain in Nowra Lane.
