A 25 yr old man has been charged over yesterday's incident at Bomaderry where a police officer was injured, after being run over by a car.

Just before 4AM police went to speak with the man in relation to a robbery offence, but as they went to remove the keys from his car, he is alleged to have driven off, with an officer entangled in the door.

The officer was dragged along beside the vehicle, but managed to free himself, landing on the road and suffering a leg injury.

Other officers chased the car around residential areas of Bomaderry, reaching speeds of 100 in a 50 zone.

The car was abandoned in Jasmine Drive, with the driver fleeing into thick bushland.

The man eluded a search by a police dog, until he was arrested about 8.30 yesterday morning.

He has  been charged with 7 offences including driving whilst disqualified, possessing and cultivating a prohibited drug and using an offensive weapon.

The man  was refused bail, pending an appearance in Nowra Local Court.
