Endeavour Energy has defended its decision to cut off power supply to 17 customers in Huskisson today (thu) saying the local businesses were given 10 days notice to make alternative arrangements.

The power will be switched off between 8am and 4pm to allow crews to work on improving the reliability of supply to the Huskisson area.

Owner of the Huskisson Service Station, Abe Memet says the day long outage will have a major impact on his business which relies solely on power to operate, and Endeavour Energy has refused to provide an alternative power source.

A spokesperson for the company says they were willing to assist Mr Memet with the selection, connection and disconnection of a portable generator, but the service station would be responsible for any hire and running costs.

The spokesperson says Endeavour Energy does not generally provide generators during planned maintenance except where there are sensitive loads such as hospitals.
