One of the teams standing for the Shoalhaven Council elections in September has come up with what it believes is a part solution to the region's rapidly increasing unemployment crisis.

Recent figures show Nowra Bomaderry's unemployment rate is more than 10%, double the national average.

Shoalhaven Action says one of the answers is to encourage more businesses to re-locate from Sydney, and the " carrot " is council rate concessions, and for bigger company's rate exemptions.

Under the plan existing companies which expand and employ 5 new employees would get a 30% concession on rates for 5 years, while new firms moving in would get a 25%, 5 year,  discount.

A company moving in from outside, and employing more than 50 people, would pay no rates for 5 years, and get a 100% rebate on council fees and charges.
