People Power Wins The Day – Eyesore Flattened In A Flash
Tuesday, 17 July 2012 02:42

API Shoal Heads Demolition and remediation work has been completed at the site of a former eyesore at the entrance to one of the region's premier tourist attractions.

For years visitors and locals using the start of the access road to Seven Mile Beach, and the Shoalhaven Heads Surf Club, have been greeted with the decaying remains of the former Australian Post Tel holiday units.

API Site pre clearing After a " Heads Sees Red "  protest from local residents, and fears about  possible  toxic asbestos contamination, Shoalhaven Council finally issued a demolition order.

API Site cleared The work has been carried out by local contractors Shoalhaven Excavations, with the area now cleared, while a decision is made on its future.

Anne Louise O'Connor from the Heads News has thanked locals for their support, saying it was " people power "  which made the long over due  demolition order a reality.
