Major progress is being made on the construction of the $35 million South Coast cancer care centre, with form work being erected to support the concrete pour for the first floor.

The centre is being built by Sydney based contractors Lipman Constructions, assisted by south coast sub contractors.

Its being developed on the eastern side of Scenic Drive, between Shoalhaven Hospital and the Nowra Showground.

When operational at the end of next year it will include a linear accelerator radiation machine and chemotherapy department, plus accommodation for out of area patients.

Meantime an appeal has gone out for works of art to be donated or loaned for display at the centre once it is completed.
