Highway Re-Opened – Two Injured In Crash At Notorious Site
Saturday, 07 July 2012 02:00

The Princes Highway has been re-opened after a crash closed the road between Berry and Kiama yesterday.

The crash happened near the intersection of the Highway and Belinda Street in Gerringong, about 100 metres from where Roads Minister Duncan Gay launched a $310 million upgrade of the area the previous day.

Two elderly people were injured in the crash, and were treated on site by paramedics, before being taken to Wollongong Hospital.

The intersection will be replaced with a new interchange as a part of the upgrade work, meaning traffic turning right out of Belinda Street to head north , will not have to run the gauntlet of vehicles heading south on the highway.

Contractors Fulton Hogan say they expect work on the upgrade between the top of the Kiama bends and the Toolijooa turn off will be completed by 2015.
