Former Ranger Warns Of Dangers Of Hunting In Nat Parks
Wednesday, 04 July 2012 23:25

A former ranger says the state government  is dicing with danger by allowing shooting in National Parks on the south coast and southern highlands,

Hunting will be allowed in a series of parks across New South Wales including Morton, which runs over a huge area from Bundanoon to west of Nowra and Ulladulla.

While the state says safety measures will be in place , former ranger Terry Barratt says he fears someone will be killed or seriously injured by wandering into an area where hunting is allowed.

Mr Barratt says the new law places a huge burden on National Parks to guarantee safety, especially in Morton, which has so many entry points.

He says he is also concerned the shooters will be amateurs more interested in the sport rather than just getting rid of feral animals.
