South Coast MP Shelley Hancock has accused a Shoalhaven Councillor of being hypocritical for attacking the state government over a lease charge to community organisations when council is about to do the same thing, but on a much larger scale.

Clr Greg Watson claims that several of the Shoalhaven's Marine Rescue groups including operations at Crookhaven Heads, Huskisson, and Kiola will have to pay a charge of more than $400 to use crown land.

But Mrs Hancock says Shoalhaven Marine Rescue has written to her complaining that council is planning to increase the rental fee on its Crookhaven Heads base from $317 per annum to $5,350.

She says the state government's charge is minor compared to a $5,000 increase in rent imposed on one of our vital volunteer organisations
